
LILBURN, Ga. - The Michigan Tech women's basketball team fell to No. 20 in this week's edition of the Women's Basketball Coaches Association NCAA Division II Top 25 Coaches' Poll, announced Tuesday by the national office. The Huskies have been ranked as high as 10th this season and held the 17th spot the previous two weeks.
The Huskies split the final two Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference games of the 2017-18 regular season last week in the SDC Gym. Tech fell to Wayne State University 71-69 on Thursday before bouncing back on Saturday with 60-44 victory over Davenport University on Senior Day. The Huskies go into the week as the No. 2 seed in the GLIAC Tournament by claiming the North Division Championship and will host No.7 seed Ferris State in quarterfinals on Wednesday.
Michigan Tech earned 129 points in this week's poll and are one of two GLIAC teams ranked in the top 25. Ashland remained unbeaten last week and is now 28-0, keeping the No. 1 ranking with 600 points and all 24 first place votes. Grand Valley State retained a spot in the receiving votes category once again this week.
The Huskies, who finished the regular season 23-4 overall and 17-3 in the GLIAC, will face the Bulldogs starting at 5:30 p.m. with the winner advance to the GLIAC Final Four on Saturday. The highest remaining seed following the quarterfinal round will host the semifinals and championship game.
